Today was my daughter's high school commencement. Isn't she beautiful?
The Senior Class theme is
"Powerful Beyond Measure"
It is from one of my favorite quotes.
It consistently encourages me to reach beyond and strive for more. I can affect one more life for good. I can be more tomorrow than I am today. What a powerful message for all of us. Whether you are striving for further education, increasing fitness or starting a new venture, don't play down who you are. I did it for too long. What opportunities did I miss? Where would I be now? Who could I have helped or encouraged on the way? I don't want to live in a world of could've, should've, wish I would've.
As my daughter is commencing her journey into adulthood, I pray for her to be more, to light the world around her and live without fear.
Our Deepest Fear
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, 'Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?' Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
