First step is the hardest, right?
Today is day 1 of NYC Tri Training. And I don't have my plan fully developed yet. But I have a skeleton that I worked up on the plane last night. This will be the hardest training I've ever done. Not because of the event, but I never know for sure where I will be, when I will sleep or what equipment I will have. I can control my food, my preparation and my commitment.
So rather than having a daily schedule of exact distances, times, efforts and am/pm workouts, I have weekly goals and will then record them in my training log. That allows me the flexibility to work with hotel gyms, access to a lap pool and my bike vs a spin bike.
I have a really fancy training log. NOT! Bought a hardbound diary at Marshalls for 3.99 and filled it out to fit my needs.
Added my favorite inspirational quote, and outlined some goals.
Upper left are macro nutrient goals for food. And if necessary I'll adjust as training goes if it's not enough, but based on history this should be good.
Upper right is a very loose outline for training and I'm building a more specific one with weekly distances to hit.
Bottom is a daily recording diary for my workout, sleep, food and water. There's one for each day and one for each week to review progress and readjust goals as needed.
Here's my equipment for the day. Doing a resistance band workout in the hotel room and then go walking around Los Angeles.
Thanks for joining me on my journey!
